Privacy Policy
How your information is collected, used and protected on this site.
Last updated 19 August 2026.
This policy explains what Flip Flop Fam collects when you use this site, why, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read, not to be got past.
Travel Enquiries and Bookings
When you submit a travel enquiry through Flip Flop Fam, we may collect information such as your name, email address, telephone number, travel dates, departure location, destination preferences, budget, number and ages of travellers, and other information you choose to provide.
Enquiry information that does not result in a booking may be retained for up to 24 months after our last interaction to allow us to respond to your enquiry and provide appropriate follow-up. If you make a booking, information relating to your reservation may be retained for longer periods as required by The Travel Agent Next Door Inc., travel suppliers, applicable laws, regulatory requirements, accounting requirements and their respective record-retention policies.
Information may be shared with The Travel Agent Next Door Inc. and relevant travel suppliers and service providers where necessary to prepare quotes, arrange or administer travel, process payments, provide requested services, or meet legal and regulatory requirements. These parties may include airlines, hotels and resorts, tour operators, cruise lines, transportation providers, activity providers, travel insurance providers and booking/payment technology providers. Some service providers may be located outside Canada and information may therefore be processed in other jurisdictions.
We do not sell your personal information.
Emails you receive from us
If you send an enquiry, you will get an automatic email confirming it arrived, and Rachel will reply personally. Those are replies to your own request and do not require any separate permission.
Travel tips and deals are different. Those only go to people who ticked the box asking for them, and we keep a record of the exact wording you agreed to and when. Every one of those emails carries an unsubscribe link, and using it removes you straight away. You can also just ask.
Our email is sent through Resend, which processes the message on our behalf.
When you use the chat
The assistant on this site answers using only what Rachel has published. What you type is sent to Anthropic, which provides the underlying service, so it can generate a reply. If you ask the assistant to pass your trip details to Rachel, they are stored the same way a form enquiry is, and you are shown what will be sent before it goes.
To stop the chat being abused we keep a count of how often it is used from a given internet connection. That count is stored against a scrambled, one-way version of your IP address, not the address itself.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and move around the site: which pages are read, roughly where visitors come from, and what is working. This is about patterns rather than individuals, and we do not use it to identify you. Google sets cookies to do this. You can refuse cookies in your browser, and the site will still work.
Affiliate links
Some links to booking sites are affiliate links, which means Rachel may earn a small commission if you book through them. It costs you nothing extra. Those links are handled by Skimlinks, and clicking one passes you to the merchant, whose own privacy policy then applies. There is more detail on the affiliate disclosure page.
Where your information is kept
Enquiries are stored in a Supabase database and the site is hosted by Vercel. Both may process data outside Canada. Access is limited to Rachel and the people who maintain the site for her.
Your rights
Under Canadian privacy law, including Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act, you can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, and ask us to delete it. We will do that, with one exception: where we are required to keep a record for legal or regulatory reasons, such as proof that you agreed to receive marketing, or booking records the agency and suppliers must retain.
Just email and ask. You do not need to explain why.
Children
This site is for adults planning family travel. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
